The day I took this photo, I had decided to go out for what was initially a very short walk to this location. I never intended to go beyond that point. The views around were stunning and kept pulling me in, higher up and further away. I remember the point at which I thought to myself to turn back because I knew I was pushing too hard into an environment I was not familiar with. I forgot the message I always send to self: if doubt creeps in, chances are you are doing something wrong. I knew I was… I went up totally unprepared. 22 Km, 6 hours of walking in icy and snowy conditions later, with a Nikon D5 strapped around my neck, the pain was there to be felt. The back injury sustained a week earlier did not help much either. I was reminded of a few lessons, the most important of which was to be prepared and to pause and check my mental and physical wellbeing. The other mistake I made was to carry heavy camera equipment for such a long distance.
On the day I was also travelling with a lighter photography set up that consists of the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the Moment phone case, the Moondog Labs adapter, the ShoulderPod phone holder, a 52-77mm step filter and the SinghRay 77mm Singh-Ray LB Color Combo Polarizer filter. This is the set up that’s always with me. The Singh-Ray LB Color Combo Polarizer filter is the most essential piece of equipment I carry with me. This photo was taken with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and the Singh-Ray LB Color Combo Polarizer. The filter allowed me to capture a crispier image, enhance the clouds, add a pop of colour and a slightly warming effect. It is a awesome piece of equipment!
